If it is necessary to remove main power from an i-Motor and still have power going to the controller and encoder, attach a 5 VDC supply to the "+5V OUT" on Pin 12 of the I/O connector, or to Pin 2 (NOT pin A2) of the Power Connector. Keep in mind that if the voltage rises above 5.5V, the i-Motor will be damaged.

The controller and encoder will require 0.96 Watts in the keep-alive state (190mA at 5V). All functionality of the controller and encoder is present, but the drive will not enable.

There is also the possibility of a custom iBE that uses a 24V-48V keep-alive on pins 15 and 14 of the I/O connector. However, do NOT apply voltage to these pins on a standard motor!
