APEX units are designed to be used with motors that have resolvers; however, they can be used with motors that have Hall Effects and encoders.

To put the APEX into Hall Mode, SW3 #4 must be turned ON (the default is OFF). This converts the Encoder Output connector to Hall Effect inputs.

On the Resolver connector, two jumpers must be put in place:

  1. Red to Brown

  2. Black to White

For the encoder:

On an APEX Drive only, the encoder from the motor will go back to the controller.

On an APEX615n Controller/Drive, the encoder from the motor will go back to the External Encoder Input connector. SFB1 then needs to be used to make sure the controller uses the External Encoder Input as its feedback source.
