Interact Xpress Troubleshooting - Fonts Unreadable on Tools or Animations Broken After Upgrading 2.16 and Older Projects to 3.1 or 4.1

There is an issue in Xpress applications created in 2.16 and older versions that could cause fonts to become unreadable on tools or animations such as making tools hidden based on a bool expression.

To avoid any issues upgrading the 2.16 and older versions of projects, follow the steps below:

FIRST: Make a copy of the original application to be used for the upgrade.

Open the copy of the project and it asks whether to upgrade or not, use the drop down menu to select version 2.15 and do the upgrade.

The available versions to select for upgrade are determined by the version of application you are opening. It is not possible to "downrev" a project. Only upgrading is possible. This is one of the reasons you should always work with copies of your Project and never your original Project.

Alternately, highlight the copy of the project in the Local machine tree and use the "Upgrade Project" button which is forth icon from the right, just above the local projects tree.

Select 2.15 as the upgrade

Open the 2.15 project and verify there are no problems with Fonts or animations

Repeat the process above on the 2.15 project to make it a 2.17 project,

Open the 2.17 project and verify there are no problems with Fonts or animations.

Repeat the process above on the 2.15 project to make it a 2.17 project,

Repeat the process above on the 2.17 project upgrading it to 3.1

Now the project should open and all of the Fonts and animations will be OK.

UPDATE: With the release of new hardware (XTA Family) there is a 4.1 version to support it.

The same steps are necessary to upgrade old 2.16 and older version apps to 4.1 as the steps for 3.1
