InteractX Troubleshooting - Loss of Characters on the Pop-Up Keyboard, Keypad, ETC.
The symptom on the run time system will be a loss of the characters on some of the keys or buttons on the pop-up keyboard, pop-up keypad, selection list tool, logon tool, verification tool, authentication tool, user admin tools, etc.
The application looks fine under the development system but then after transfer to the run time most of the button labels are blank (though a few things will still show up like the numbers on the keypad). See pictures below for some examples.
This symptom is created by attempting to download the Interact X run time along with the Application Files on Windows 7 systems. This feature is a carry-over from older versions of InteractX and was intended as a method of upgrading the run time when needed to match your development version as long as your run time license was still valid.
However, this no longer functions correctly on Windows 7 systems due to the tighter system security that Windows 7 uses and one of the symptoms that results in it losing track of the character map for all of these pop-up type tools. Parker strongly recommends that you do not download the runtime from the development software, only the Application Files are needed to get your application to the run time system.
The runtime version does need to match the version that the project is developed in. So, if you do need to update the run time version, you should manually un-install it and then install the newer version not use the transfer option from the development software to do this. It will cause corruption of the run time software and require un-installing and re-installing the run time or re-imaging the entire drive.
Fix - as stated above, once the run time has been corrupted there is no easy solution. You will need to either un-install and then re-install the run time software or re-image the entire drive. If you re-image the entire drive using the Acronis recovery software (either on the Parker IPX or Parker IXA models) it will restore the factory default image including the original run time. Any other software that had been installed will then need to be re-installed (like the Interact X application itself).
