AC584 Series (Discontinued)
The 584 series is long obsolete. It was an AC drive product originally designed in the late 80s by Eurotherm and superseded by later drives beginning in the 90s; full obsolescence of the series occurred in the late 90s to very early 2000s depending on the variation. Although Parker offers various modern replacements, they will all require some redesign of the system as no replacement is drop-in.
The 584 is no longer supported by Parker unless assistance is need to move to a modern product. Your local Parker Distributor/Integrator can certainly assist with modern product implementation. Below is [non-proprietary] information that Parker EMN has on these products to act as a database for migration assistance.
584 Series
These are are different variants of the 584 series:
584– “Original” drive for velocity control of AC induction motors.
584S – “Silent” drive capable of constant or quadratic torque control. Included a “Quiet Pattern” PWM strategy to reduce audible noise from the motor.
584SV – “Sensorless Vector” Capable of constant or quadratic torque control. Could be ran in sensorless vector mode.
58x – Variants of the above drives. The third digit being changed would often denote a different specialized power variation. Not to be confused with the 582/583/5831 drives. See the below product code breakdowns for examples.
Product Code Breakdown
Product code breakdowns can be found in the manuals. For the sake of quick reference, we have the following snippets for the above variant's product codes:
Replacements
Your local Parker Distributor or Integrator can assist with system redesign and finding a solution to meet your needs. Contact Parker EMN for contacts in your region.
Advisement: There are no direct replacements to any variants of the 584 drives. Some system redesign and reprogramming are required.
The AC10 or AC15 could be a potential fit depending on the robustness of the application.
If it was V/Hz or sensorless vector velocity control of an AC induction motor
For torque control or more robust applications, see the AC30V or 890 drives depending on specific needs.
For sensorless vector control of a PMAC motor see the AC30V
For PMAC control in general, consider our servo drive/motor options in the redesign.
Spare Parts: There are no spare parts available for these drives.
Product Manuals and Info
Here are the manuals we have for the 584 families:
Software Info
Software information can be found within the respective software environment’s help files. Any of the following software may have been used with your 584 drive.
CELite – OBX software. Was primarily used to communicate the 584. No longer supported.
DSELite – Modern (free) software used to communicate to current products, successor to CELite and can connect to the 584 drive if you absolutely need to open up the programming to understand how it originally functioned. Help files can be found when you right click any function block.
Legacy Appnotes
These are some Appnotes from internal servers. They are no longer supported. They are included for the sake of legacy information only.
Miscellaneous Information
Miscellaneous information on these products are limited due to their age. Much of the information did not make it into the digital realm.
The manuals, as like modern products, are still incredibly thorough however; from troubleshooting through to accessories that could be shipped with the drives and everything in between.
