Note: ACR-View's terminal emulator cannot be used for a loopback test. You must connect to the controller first before using the terminal emulator so a loopback test wouldn't work in ACR-View.

In Aries Support Tool's terminal emulator, echo is local so you will always see what you're typing but on a loopback test, whatever is typed would be sent after pressing enter and thus you'd see everything typed twice with a successful loopback, once with a failed loopback.

http://Putty.org or HyperTerminal can be used. Putty is a free download.

Microsoft no longer includes HyperTerminal after WinXP with Windows but can be purchased from the maker.
