Using Serial Communication
Serial communication on an ACR controller card (except the ACR1500) uses the P5 (communication) header. All cards have the identical pin out for serial communication.
NOTE: The ACR controller card must have the Serial Communication Option.
The serial interface has a maximum baud rate of 38,400 except the ACR1200 that has a maximum baud rate of 115,000. The default setting is RS-232 for both COM1 and COM2 and are auto baud detect. The RS-232 interface require a 3-wire "NULL MODEM" connection and does not use hardware handshaking.
AcroView for Windows (Serial) is available on the Acroloop Controller Utilities Rev. E CD supplied with all ACR controller cards. The default Port Configuration is 38400,N,8,1.
HyperTerminal may also be used with properties set to direct connection to COM port and Flow Control Xon/Xoff. ACR controller card auto baud detect requires striking the ENTER key for initialization.
