6K Misc - Can the 6K Accept Multiple Ethernet Connections

The 6K* can allow a maximum of 14 Ethernet connections:

  • 1 connection as a server (to a client device such as a PC or CTC panel)

  • up to 6 connections as a client (to a server device such as Allen-Bradley SLC5/05)

  • up to 7 connections in a peer-to-peer network (with other 6K units)

The 6K will allow only one Ethernet connection to a client PC at any given time. Advanced developers or system administrators can get around this limitation by using the DCOMCNFG.EXE utility that comes with Windows 95/98/NT. DCOMCNFG will allow the Communications Server (com6srvr.exe) to be run remotely. The remote com6srvr.exe could then be used to connect to the lone 6K. Any number of client PCs could then connect to the remote com6srvr.exe to access the 6K.
