WinRT is a device driver created by BlueWater Systems, Inc., and is provided by Compumotor on the 6000 Series Drivers and Samples disk.
In Windows, you cannot do direct I/O porting from a program, or, in other words, you cannot directly instruct a program to access any address and modify its register contents because you could easily crash the system. So, I/O porting was made somewhat difficult, allowing only experienced programmers the ability to write Windows I/O applications. However, our AT cards use I/O porting, and so a kernel-mode device driver was needed, namely the WinRT driver.
