When using an encoder-based MaxPlus (MPM) motor with the "Option 5" connection option and a Gemini GV drive, it is required that the MXPLUS command is left at its default setting of zero (0).

The Gemini motor database file in Motion Planner was originally designed for use with the "Option 1" motors and depending upon how old your file is, it may set "MXPLUS 1". This will cause Option 5 motors to not commutate correctly and produce drive faults. If you are experiencing problems, be sure to check this setting in the drive.

An additional item that needs to be checked when selecting an encoder-based MPM motor from the wizard is the encoder resolution setting. The most common encoder option is the 2000 line encoder ("JN" option, 8000 pulses per rev.) so this was made the default setting for DRES, ERES and ORES.

If your motor does not have the "JN" encoder option, be certain to change these settings manually in your wizard generated code before downloading to the drive.
