We currently transmit at a 200KHz rate. The differential drivers/receivers are capable of 10MHz @ 40ft, 1MHz @ 400ft and 100KHz @ 4000ft (properly terminated cable) for an effective rate of 200KHz @ 2000ft. The shift clock must propagate down the cable to the slave and the shifted data must arrive back at the master in 2.5usec and imposes a further limit of 2.5us/(1.6ns * 2) (down and back) or 781 feet based on the propagation characteristics of the cable. Therefore the theoretical length would be 781 between devices - multiple EVM32s can be used as repeaters (up to 8 to achieve the magic mile.)
