The Drive Enable Output Flag (BIT8465) indicates what the controller "thinks" the axis DRIVE ON/OFF state should be. This bit will come on immediately when the DRIVE ON (or MC_Power.Enable=True) command issued. In the case of most drives there is a 10-100ms latency before the drive is enabled and ready so this bit is not always a good indication of the drive state. Also, there are some cases where the Drive Enable Output Flag for the axis can be on, but the drive is actually off. An example of this would be if the EPL network is off (or the drive did not join the network) and the DRIVE ON command is issued.

Firmware version 1.29(ACR90x0) and 2.29 (96x0) adds a group of flags to show the definitive state of an EPL drive. This information is part of the regular EPL data status word transmitted from the drive to the controller. Valid for both Aries EPL and Compax3 EPL drives.
