What Is the Servo Dither in an MX80L?

Servo dither will be dependant upon the encoder resolution, the drive tuning, and the servo loop. In the MX80L dither can be measured in encoder counts in the following table:



	

	Encoder Resolution         Dither Counts

	5 micron                   0 counts

	1 micron                   0 counts

	0.5 micron                 0 counts

	0.1 micron                 1-2 counts

	20 nanometer               2-4 counts

For example a unloaded MX80L-MS will dither a 1-2 encoder counts if using a 0.1 micron encoder BUT if using a 0.5 micron (or more coarse) no dither will be visible vie the encoder.
