USB-to-Serial Adapters with Motion Architect

Not all USB-to-serial adapters will work with Motion Architect.

Users should be using an adapter with the FTDI chipset such as Cables Unlimited part number USB-2920. The USB-2920 is available on www.amazon.com.

Note that these adapters give a 9pin com port output; a null modem crossover cable is still necessary to connect from the adapter to the 6000 series product.

The FTDI adapters work on WinXP, Win7 and Win10.

Other USB adapters that do not have the FTDI chipset may or may not be compatible with Motion Architect. Be sure to contact your USB adapter manufacturer to obtain the latest driver available for your product. Many incompatibility issues can be resolved by using the latest driver. Or acquire the above USB-2920.

The Prolific chipset works on Win XP but the drivers do not support Windows 7 (Win7) or Windows 10 (Win10). Even though Windows does find and install drivers for those devices, communications fail on those OS. The previously recommended was BAFO BF-800 (25-pin RS232 version) and the BF-810 (9-pin RS232 version) had the Prolific chipset.
