Runtime and Development softwares

Runtime software is the software the HMI is running. HMIs are touchscreen computers allowing machine operators to start/stop machines, select different parts or recipes to run, input different parameters or monitor the machine status. In general Interact panels are can be thought of as a touchscreen computer version of a machine control panel. HMIs can communicate to different PLCs or motion controllers via different those devices different communication protocols. Newer HMIs can be used for interfacing to computer servers (InteractX) or monitor other HMIs (InteractX) or machines or provide remote access (Xpress or InteractX).  Parker HMIs include a runtime license installed. Each HMI requires a runtime license.

Development software is the software machine builders and programmers use to develop or update the HMI projects that are downloaded to the HMIs that run in the runtime software. Projects can be transferred to the HMI via Compact Flash cards or directly via ethernet or serial communications. Projects can be setup with different levels of users to prevent access to parts of the projects (machine operators, engineers, admin). The development software is purchased once and can be used to develop the project.

PA2 and P13

PA2 and P13 require projects developed in Interact version 7.0 software. Interact software to develop new projects or upgrade projects from older PowerStations. Interact software is an additional purchase. Interact software can be used to upgrade or develop multiple HMI projects.  PA2s and P13s can run projects developed in older versions of Interact, but must first be upgraded using Interact 7. Note there are differences in the hardware for PowerStations. PA2s and P13s do not have PC104 or ISA expansion slots and only have 2 serial ports. Applications using PC104 or ISA expansion slots or 3 serial ports would need updating.

Older PowerStations (PA, PS10, etc)

Interact 7.0 can be used to modify projects for older PowerStations. Older versions of Interact are no longer available nor supported. Version 7.0 can be used and is not checking the HMI for hardware licenses for the modules and includes all modules that could be used in a project.  With older versions of PowerStations like the PA, runtime modules were selected with additional cost to the hardware.
