How Does the Password Protection Feature Work in the AC10 (via the Keypad)?

Password protection in the AC10 prevents the majority of the parameters from being changed.  Many parameters values can still be viewed via the keypad though.

If the keypad shows alarm code Err1 when you attempt to change a parameter then password protection is currently enabled on that drive.

This password protection will also prevent cloning the drive's current parameter settings or loading parameters from a cloning device.  Neither of these operations will be possible until the current password has been entered in the F100 parameter at a minimum.  If attempted on a password protected drive you will see alarm code Er73 on the display.

F107 is used to enable/disable the password feature.  F107=1 enables password protection.

F108 is used to set the user password (which has a range of 0 -> 9999).  (default value of F108 = 8)

F100 is used to enter the password if the feature (F107=1) has been enabled.

To set up initially

  1. Change F108 to the desired password value (0 through 9999).

  1. Change F107 to a value of 1.

Password protection is now enabled.  Any further changes will require you to enter the set password value into parameter F100 before you can make changes.

Note - Once password protection is enabled, F108 will not display what the password is currently set to nor will you be able to reset to factory default via the F160=1 parameter setting so use caution and make sure you know what you have set F108 value to BEFORE you set F107 to a value of 1.  There is not a secret 'backdoor'.

To change password (or disable the feature)

  1. Set F100 to the currently configured password value (0 through 9999).

This has now temporarily disabled the password protection (until a power cycle or F107 is set to 1 again manually).

  1. Change F108 to whatever new password value you want to use (0 through 9999).

  1. To disable the password feature going forward, now change F107 value to 0.
