Upgrading from ACR1500 to ACR1505
Hardware:
-Much faster Processor on the ACR1505 (120 MFLOPS vs. 40MFLOPS), works better with front end interface programming. With the processor being faster, there is a possibility of much faster trajectory, servo, PLC Ladder Logic and Encoder update on the 1505. ACR1500�s require that PERIOD be set to 0.001 (1ms) servo update rate to be reliable. ACR1505 can use a PERIOD as low as 0.0001 (100us) for two axes or 0.0002 (200us) for four axes for improved shaft and I/O performance
-Both contain 48 Opto22-compatible I/O points, programmable as either inputs or outputs. The ACR1500 are all user-configurable in groups of 8 as either inputs or outputs. The 1505 has 16 inputs, 16 outputs pre-defined with an additional 16 configurable in groups of 8. (See CONFIG IO MODE in Command Reference for more information)
-1500 communicates via the ISA bus (16-bit) ONLY, while the 1505 uses the PCI bus (32-bit) but has an option to add a serial communication card.
-There is much more memory in the ACR1505 with 512 KB User and System Memory while the 1500 uses 128KB. The 1505 uses flash-based firmware and the 1500 use 256KB x 16 EPROM chips.
-Communication is through FIFO buffers in the 1500 as compared to the 1505, which uses DPCB with dual port RAM.- Axes offered are 2-4 DAC�s or Steppers, or a D2S2 option on both controllers.
-For the encoder, the 1505 come with differential termination (120 ohm) resistor packs and the 1500 ships with pull-up (1000 ohm) resistor packs.
-The ACR1500-ACR1505 is good for Windows 98/NT4/2K/XP-based computers. ACR1500 works for those versions of Windows-based as well as DOS-based computers.
-ACR1505 will NOT work with Acrocut/Acromill or other DOS-based software packages.
