Parker offers explosion proof motors certified to both European CE/ATEX and North American UL standards. Each standard gives specifications for approved proper cabling, and both are discussed below.
EUROPEAN CE/ATEX CABLING OPTIONS
Parker provides various standard cables depending on rated motor current draw and drive model. A snapshot of the cables referenced from the EX catalog is copied below.
NORTH AMERICAN UL CABLING OPTIONS
Unfortunately, Parker does not provide any UL-certified cabling options. The UL portion of the EX technical manual (link given in Resources section below) lists numerous notices regarding UL certification.
UL-certified cabling will be the customer’s responsibility, and they will need to reference the UL standard to verify compliance.
When the EX motor is ordered, Parker provides tapped holes in the terminal housing for the customer to insert their cabling through. Note that cable glands are not provided. Verify the proper tapped hole and thread dimensions in the UL motor 2D drawings (link given in Resources section below).
