Parker Bayside Frameless Kit Servo Motor FAQs

The K series brushless kit motors are an OEM type product suitable for tight machine integration, allowing short form factors, reduced component count thus increasing system reliability, system accuracy and machine throughput through faster move & settle times.

Based on catalog winding specifications with such low voltage constants, these motors can attain extremely high speeds, in some cases approaching 20krpm. Is this a realistic speed for these motors?

Theoretically yes if only the winding limits was the limiting speed factor. However, the machine integration detects the bearing typed employed. This bearing's maximum mechanical speed can be less than the winding limit. If the Kit motor is integrated to drive a ballscrew or leadscrew system, the critical speed of this screw could also be the limiting factor. As the windings are not wrapped in Kevlar, nor are the magnets encapsulated, without further testing, we would not recommend any speeds higher than 7500rpm. For higher speed applications, please contact factory for further information.
In trying to manage the numerous different windings,
attached is a range of standard Kit motors and
windings matched to the different power level Parker drives. This makes it a little bit easier to manage:

Notes for using with Aries

For trapezoidal commutation, the Aries can be run in torque mode with hall only operation with OHALL1. Or in the Configuration Wizard, change the commutation in step 3 Commutation from Sinusoidal to Trapezoidal. Even though the an encoder isn't used in this mode, the encoder resolution needs to be set within the software.

Aries to Kit Wiring

Encoder is user supplied. To confirm encoder direction is counting in same direction as motor phases, use AutoRun (DMODE3) and the direction the motor is turning is positive. If the encoder is counting negative, either switch A+ and A- or reverse the encoder direction in Aries configuration (ENCPOL1).
