General - Industrial Servo Motors in Vacuum Environments

Products intended for low pressure environments must be built to withstand the typically large pressure differentials and outgassing common to these environments. Spme of Parker's motors can be customized to operate in vacuum environments using best practices. This customization includes the follow modifications:

  • Vented, stainless hardware

  • Lock washers in place of Loctite

  • Use shielded bearings in place of sealed bearings

  • Bearings packed with Krytox 240 in place of standard grease

  • Strip epoxy coating off all components; do not anodize aluminum

  • Teflon wires throughout

  • Resolver feedback (encoders use plastic and PCB components that are prone to outgassing)

  • Remove o-rings

  • No labels; laser or mechanical etching only

Although our motors that are designed for vacuum environments are not specifically vacuum rated, they follow best engineering practices and have successfully been used in environments down to 10-6 Torr.
