Compax3 Hardware - X11 Connector
The X11 connector has the functionality for both encoder inputs and outputs. It can do either, but only one at a time. If a simulated output is required, then in the C3 managers Encoder Output menu, change the value of ‘Simulated encoder output’ to ON. Once ON is selected, then the function ‘Simulated Encoder Output Resolution’ appears and allows the user to select the appropriate encode resolution. The simulated encoder output is at the 5V level.
For applications requiring an encoder input, after downloading the configuration file, the menu ‘Signal Source’ will appear has one of the pull down menus in C3 manager. Click on Signal Source, then for example if the application were Gearing, the user would need to select ‘Gearing’. Then C3 manager will then ask what the Gearing input signal source is going to be, and here the user will select Encoder A/B; 5V. Once the encoder is selected, a prompt appears reading ‘Attention: encoder simulation is deactivated’, since encoder input and output modes cannot be selected concurrently. X11 has a 24V output to power 24V encoders if necessary.
The Compax3 is designed to accept differential encoder inputs, if the application requires single-ended encoders, then contact the Parker Applications Department at 1-800-358-9070 to discuss the matter further.
