TASX Bit 19 -- Foldback Active

This bit indicates that the drive has entered into “Current Foldback” mode in order to protect the drive from overheating. Foldback occurs when a level of current is demanded by the motor that the drive is not designed to handle continuously. So, after a certain period of time (usually a few seconds), the drive current is automatically reduced to 80% of the continuous drive current in order to preserve the drive. Foldback mode also preserves the motor’s life by reducing motor winding temperatures. This bit will only activate when the DIFOLD1 command has been invoked in the Gemini unit.

REMEDY:

Check the mechanics of the motion control system for binding points and/or mechanical jams along the path of motor travel.
